The Parish Council meets bi-monthly. The meeting is attended by the fifteen elected councillors, who represent the six wards of the civic Parish area.
The Council has established a number of Committees; these are smaller groups of Councillors that take on responsibilities delegated by the Parish Council. In some cases the Committees have delegated authority from the Parish Council to make decisions, set policy and agree strategy, in other cases the Committees have to refer matters back to the Parish Council for approval. The dates of Parish Council and Committee meetings can be found on our calendar.
The Leisure, Planning & Highways and Finance & Administration Committees meet regularly. The Staffing Committee and Review Panel meetings are held when required, details will be published on the calendar.
The public and press are welcome to attend all meetings.
Members of the public can address the Parish Council, or any committee meeting, on matters that are on the meeting agenda. The Parish Council has put in place “Public Speaking Arrangements”, a copy of which can be downloaded from the link at the bottom of this page.
It is sometimes necessary for the Parish Council and Committees to discuss confidential matters, these are kept to an absolute minimum and when necessary the press and public will be asked to leave the meeting.
The Leisure Committee is responsible for the Council’s Playing Fields, Venues and Allotments.
In addition to the Councillors who sit on the Committee, the Council has appointed representatives from the user community of sports clubs, allotments users and the various groups that use our venues. The user representatives attend the Leisure Committee meetings to ensure the users of Council services have a voice on the Committee.
Planning and Highways Committee
The Planning & Highways Committee considers and comments on all development plans in the Parish Council area. The Committee also considers matters relating to highways, transport and the Parish Council’s bus shelters and notice boards. Further information is available on the Planning page.

The Staffing Committee is responsible for all aspects of the Council’s policies and strategy relating to its full and part time staff.
