Abbots Langley Parish Council has 15 Councillors representing the six wards of the Parish Council area.
All Councillors attend the Parish Council meeting, which takes place every month, excluding August.
The Council has established a number of Committees, these are smaller groups of Councillors that meet to set strategy, develop policy and take on responsibilities delegated from the Parish Council. In some cases the Committees have delegated authority from the Parish Council to set policy and agree strategy, in other cases the Committees have to refer matters back to the Parish Council for approval.
The Leisure Committee is responsible for the Council’s Playing Fields, Venues and Allotments.
In addition to the Councillors who sit on the Committee, the Council has appointed representatives from the user community of sports clubs, allotments users and the various groups that use our venues. The user representatives attend the Leisure Committee meetings to ensure the users of Council services have a voice on the Committee.
Planning & Highways Committee
The Planning & Highways Committee considers and comments on all development plans in the Parish Council area. The Committee also considers matters relating to highways, transport and the Parish Council’s bus shelters. Further information is available on the Planning page.

The Staffing Committee is responsible for all aspects of the Council’s policies and strategy relating to its full and part time staff.
Details of meeting dates and times are on the Calendar. Agendas for meetings will be published on the Calendar around three working days before the meeting, minutes of the meetings will be published when they have been approved by the Parish Council or the relevant Committee.
The Staffing Committee does not have regular meetings, instead meeting on an “as required” basis.
The public and press are welcome to attend all meetings.
It is sometimes necessary for the Parish Council and Committees to discuss confidential matters, these are kept to an absolute minimum and when necessary the press and public will be asked to leave the meeting.
